Introduction

SceneThe main objective of the Research-Industry Cooperative (formed in 1993) is to improve the profitability and reduce the risk of growing and utilising Douglas-fir in New Zealand. The scope is from seed to product:

  • Develop and deploy improved genetic material.
  • Determine the effects of site, silviculture and genetics on growth and quality.
  • Environmental issues (tree spread, carbon)
  • Product performance
  • Capturing this knowledge in user friendly decision support systems.
