Commercial Environmental Forestry (CEF)
Commercial Environmental Forestry (CEF) is a research program to develop capability and decision support tools to:
- Reduce risk for investors in forestry and revegetation schemes
- Make most cost-effective use of public and private funds
CEF has developed the capability to:
TARGET where to establish forests for expected:
- Growth
- Carbon sequestration
- Biodiversity enhancement
- Salinity reduction
- Water impacts.
ASSESS project design and expectations.
MONITOR the success of revegetation programs against targets.
This enables assessments at Regional and Farm scales
CEF has studied a range of forest types, including:
-
Commercial forest species – sugar gum, spotted gum, blue gum, radiata pine and oil mallees.
-
Environmental plantings and on-farm remnant forest.
