The Ensis Bushfire Research group develops the science and technology needed to protect life and property, and manage fire in the landscape.

The programme has a scope that includes rural land and the rural/urban interface.

Ensis Bushfire Research has knowledge and experience across a full range of vegetation types and landscapes.

Specific aims of the programme are to provide land and fire management agencies with greater capacity to:

  • Enhance fire fighter safety.
  • Understand bushfire behaviour and risk.
  • Enhance community safety and protection.
  • Provide better prescriptions to implement controlled burning programmes.
  • Deploy effective suppression resources.
  • Manage fire in different vegetation types.
