Dr Tom Richardson
BA (Biology) Bucknell University, Pennsylvania, USA - 1984
PhD (Botany) Pennsylvania State University, USA - 1990
Dr Tom Richardson is the Chief Executive Officer of Scion. Originally from the United States, Tom moved to New Zealand in 1990 and is currently based in Rotorua.
During his science career Tom spent 14 years as a practising researcher, mainly in the field of plant genetics. During his science career he established the genomics research group at what is now New Zealand Crown Research Institute, Scion.
In 1998 he moved onto the Institute's executive management team, and was appointed as CEO of Scion in 2005.
Tom's vision for the Ensis collaboration is to provide a high standard of research and development that will lead the New Zealand and Australian forest industries into the future.
